Early Life

Sood was born in Moga Punjab on 30 July 1973. His mother was a teacher whereas father had a textile business, according to Mumbai Mirror. He developed interest in acting after he started participating in modelling events in his college — Yeshwantrao Chavan — in Nagpur. He came to Mumbai after finishing his graduation in 1990s to become an actor. However, he wanted to take small steps and hence he started modelling in Mumbai.Sood used to drop his photograph to casting directors in film studios.


Film Career

In 1999, Sood was introduced to Tamil language films with Kallazhagar and Nenjinile. He then appeared in negative role in the Telugu film Hands Up! in 2000. In 2001, he appeared in Majunu. He then began starring in Hindi films, with Shaheed-E-Azam, as Bhagat Singh in 2002. Sood earned recognition as Abhishek Bachchan's brother in Mani Ratnam's Yuva in 2004 and in Aashiq Banaya Aapne in 2005. In Tollywood, with the release of Super in 2005, he received greater recognition for his work.In this film, his co-star was Nagarjuna as a high-tech thief. His next film was Athadu. In 2006, he again portrayed the antagonist in Ashok. It was an average grosser, but by now he had become popular in Telugu films. In 2009, he played the role of Pasupathy in Arundhati. Following the Tollywood release of Arundhati, he played the role of Rajkumar Sujamal in the Indian epic film Jodha Akbar, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. In 2009, he played the role of gangster Bada in Anjaneyulu opposite Ravi Teja.


Personal Life

Sood has been married to Sonali for about 23 years now. He fell in love at a young age — way before his acting career began.
According to media reports, Sonali is the only woman Sood has ever dated in life. They met while studying in college in Nagpur and got married in a court in 1996. Sonali has been a part of Sood’s struggle into Bollywood.
Sood, who is reportedly worth $17 million, opened his production house Shakti Sagar productions in 2016.
Moreover, he also has a family owned- hotel named Shakti Sagar near Iskcon in Juhu Mumbai. He recently offered to the local authorities for the use of paramedical forces fighting coronavirus.
